What is Shaolin?

Shaolin is a centuries-old tradition rooted in the practices of the Shaolin Temple in China, blending martial arts, meditation, and Buddhist teachings. It is renowned for its unique style of Kung Fu, developed by monks who combined self-defense techniques with principles of mindfulness and spiritual growth. Shaolin emphasizes discipline, strength, flexibility, and mental focus, fostering not only physical prowess but also inner peace and wisdom. Over time, it has become synonymous with the idea of using martial arts as a means to cultivate the body, mind and spirit in harmony. 

Some of the Shaolin practices, techniques and methods that are taught by Discover Your Power have come from Shaolin Temple Europe. All credit for these forms is due to Master Shi Heng Yi, from which they were learned. Discover Your Power exists to help more people have access to the training methods and wisdom offered by the Shaolin Arts. We understand that not everyone is interested in training online from video instruction. If you are interested in learning from online videos and do not want or need in person instruction and guidance, then it is strongly recommended that you sign up for the 12 Month Self-Mastery program offered by Shaolin.Online and  taught by Master Shi Heng Yi. There are also countless free videos of forms, also taught by Master Shi Heng Yi on YouTube, for a less structured approach to learning.
